From Scorching Backyard Mess to Clear Space
The Challenge
I got the call on a Tuesday afternoon when the heat index was pushing 105. A homeowner on West 127th Street was halfway through tearing down their old, crumbling patio cover themselves. They'd hit a wall—literally—with a pile of concrete, splintered wood, and rusty rebar blocking their entire driveway. Their big family barbecue was scheduled for that weekend, and with the forecast calling for more brutal heat, they were staring at a ruined party and a hazard their kids couldn't avoid.
The Result
We rolled in the next morning with our 20-yard dumpster and a two-man crew. We sorted the metal for recycling onsite and had the rest loaded within two hours. The key was positioning the box so we didn't crush their sprinkler lines, which are shallow in these older Water Works lots. By lunchtime, their driveway was clear, safe, and ready for their celebration.
I went from total stress to relief before my coffee got cold.
